Meet Kat Hadford
Jersey girl, mom to three, portrait and wedding photographer
Hi there, I’m Kathleen. My friends call me “Kat” and you may, too. I’m a Jersey Girl who lived all her life within about an hour’s drive of New York City (except for a year abroad and a couple years at UBC), until 2006 when I found myself living in my husband’s hometown of Lillooet, BC (population 2,324 and a two hour drive to the nearest movie theatre). With a young family on our hands, I happily traded long commutes on busy highways for leisurely walks to the post office delayed only by chats with friends and neighbours along the way. I learned to can fruit from our garden, play hockey and catch salmon. Oh, and I picked up a thing or two about photography (a lifetime hobby), starting a studio in my home and gaining loads of experience with kids of all ages, families, singles, couples, reunions, weddings, boudoir, product photography, sports teams, and preschools.
My varied experiences photographing in all kinds of settings and circumstances has made me a better photographer adapting to all kinds of lighting, weather and personalities. I am thrilled to now focus on weddings, which seem to include a little bit of everything in one whirlwind day — candids and portraits set in the stunning landscapes of beautiful British Columbia, moments filled with joy and emotion.
For five years, I built my business in Golden, BC and developed wonderful relationships with the amazing wedding professionals working in the community. I’ve photographed weddings/receptions at Emerald Lake, Heather Mountain Lodge, Kicking Horse Mountain, Hillside Lodge, the Golden Civic Centre, Panorama, Bull River Guest Ranch and other stunning location in the Columbia Valley/East Kootenays. In the summer of 2017, I moved to Cranbrook, BC and look forward to shooting in both old and new locations in 2018 and beyond.
